Larry Maxwell, affectionately known as Lar, Bear, Dad, Grandpa, and Friend, left this world peacefully on January 28th, 2024, at the age of 77, surrounded by loved ones in his son Chad's home in Leander, Texas. Larry was born on December 27, 1946, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Iola and Harold Maxwell.
A proud Army veteran, Larry served in the 118th Military Police Company, dedicating three years to this nation. His service was marked by honor and bravery, earning him numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Parachute Badge, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
In 1980, Larry made Austin, Texas, his home until two years ago when he moved to Leander to live on his son and daughter-in-law's property. Larry, a retired jewelry salesman, had a passion for golf, but his greatest joy came from sharing drinks and dinners with his closest friends and family. His warm and loving nature touched the hearts of everyone he encountered, leaving a lasting impression.
Larry is survived by his three children, Rick, Chad (wife Angel), and Amber Maxwell, and his cherished grandchildren River (wife Rachel), Lennon, and Lyric Maxwell. Larry will be laid to rest in Enid, Oklahoma, alongside his beloved Mother Iola Maxwell, Father Harold Maxwell, and Brother Richard Maxwell.
Chad and Angel extend their deepest gratitude and love to the exceptional team of nurses and staff at The Hospice Austin who provided compassionate care during Larry's final days.
In honoring Larry's memory, let us remember his boundless love for others and the genuine friendships he held dear. Larry's legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will forever be a source of inspiration and warmth for those who had the privilege of knowing him.
