Maynard Lee Wilson, 85, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Austin, Texas with family and friends at his side. He was the youngest of three boys born February 22, 1936 to Luther George Wilson and Minnie Lee Close in San Angelo, Texas. Lee served in the USAF in Engineering and Technical Intelligence Operations while in Alaska after WWII. Lee met Margaret (Maggie) Brothers in San Angelo at a young age. He immediately knew she was the one for him and they were married February 1, 1958. She joined him in his journey at the University of Texas where he earned his Mechanical Engineering degree. He loved learning and earned a Masters and PhD, as well as his Professional Engineer License. Professionally, he was a gifted and elite engineer. Lee’s work history was impressive with a wide variety of business management, water treatment engineering design, wallboard recycling, solid state electronics, new venture corporate development, and noise control. He worked and/or consulted for the University of Texas, Tracor, Texas Instruments, Radian Corporation, and Shamoda Enterprises. Lee had creative talents as well and was a gifted photographer. He loved taking pictures of Maggie, family and nature. He put both his engineering and creative juices to the test and produced an amazing lake paradise which many boaters marvel at daily!
Family and friends always commented that Lee was born about 100 years too late. He had a true pioneering spirit. He flourished in the peace of outdoor life, the pleasures of fishing and hunting and being surrounded by new and old friends.
Lee was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend. At the end, he was loved and held in high esteem by many devoted friends, family members and business associates.
We loved him very much and miss him terribly.
We would like to give thanks to the loving friends and Care Givers at CareFor and Sonder Hospice for the exceptional care and love they showed our uncle and family.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:00 PM, at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet, Texas.
