

Almaryne (Mrs. Ed) Fike (Lenora) Almaryne Taylor Fike peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord on June 26, 2008 at 9:15 pm from her residence in Austin, Texas. She is survived by her three sons: Philip (Mellanie) of Roy, UT; Douglas of Austin, TX; and Richard (Linda) of Hudson, WI; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Fike was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 2, 1921. The family later lived in Waco and then moved to Oklahoma City where she graduated from Central High School. She met Edwin Hugh Fike at First Baptist Church and they married there on November 25, 1943. The couple moved to communities in the Texas Panhandle and then settled in Amarillo in 1955. Three years ago, Mrs. Fike moved to Austin to be near family and lived at The Renaissance Independent Living and Assisted Living Center until her death. While in Amarillo, Mr. and Mrs. Fike were faithful members of the First Baptist Church, serving in various capacities including Mrs. Fike's years on staff as Wedding Consultant. She lovingly spoke of her many long-time friends at church as part of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Sidney and Anna Evelena Taylor, her sister Derith Reilly, and her devoted husband of 50 years Ed Fike. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church. Dr. Winfred Moore and Dr. Chester O'Brien officiating. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Fike requested donations be made to the Buchanan Street Chapel in care of First Baptist Church, 1208 S. Tyler, Amarillo, Texas 79101 or to the American Cancer Society.
