

Leon P. Angelich, Sr. Leon (Pege) P. Angelich, Sr. (Maj. U.S.A.F. Ret.) departed on his final solo flight to heaven, Saturday, October 16, 2004. Born July 27, 1931 to Peter Angelich and Mary Penkoske in Oconto, Wisconsin. He was married to his beloved and best friend, Mary Zeta for 49 years. Together they lovingly raised six children, Joseph (Casey) and wife Mandy, Zeta, Lauren and husband Tex Reardon, Anita and husband Kevin Fleming, Leon, Jr., and Romie and husband Peter Moor. Leon attended Michigan Tech University and holds a BS in Engineering from the University of Nebraska. He joined the United States Air Force at a time when the only incentive was to serve his country, the United States of America, protecting inalienable rights he recognized came with a responsibility. He courageously served with honor and duty twenty years under five United States Presidents. He flew the F-86 D, the first jet to break the sound barrier, the B-47 Bomber and the C-140 transport earning his Command Pilot Wings. Leon is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Louis Angelich, and his sister Agnes Angelich. His wife Mary Zeta, six children, and fifteen grandchildren, his brother Peter Angelich, and sisters Marion Lane, Katie Turco and Bonnie Aubry survive him. In lieu of flowers, make a contribution to a charity of your choice. Dad, you are right, Old fighter pilots never die. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM, on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Mass will be held at 9:00 AM, on Thursday, October 21, 2004, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church; Father Joe Tomei, CSC officiating.
