Lester D. Euers

Lester D Euers of Austin, Texas passed away on January 22, 2017 in Austin. He was 97 years old. Born January 1, 1920 in Elgin, Texas to Lewis Thomas and Nettie Euers, Lester grew up in the South Austin area. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Pharmacy. Prior to that, Lester served in the marines as a high speed radio operator. His military travels took him to the South Pacific where he participated in World War II conflicts including Bougainville and Guam. He was joined in marriage to Mary Jo Shaw on December 22, 1948. Lester eventually settled in Eagle Lake, Texas where he acquired the Eagle Lake Drugstore in 1961. Instead of retiring in 1986 when he sold the drugstore, Lester opened a jewelry store that he owned and operated until 1999 when he and his wife, Mary Jo moved back to Austin. It was around this time that Mary Jo fell ill and Lester became a dedicated care giver till his beloved Mary Jo passed in the year 2000. LD, as he was affectionately referred to by many, stayed very active and dabbled in a little investment counseling. He was also a dedicated member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in South Austin.

Lester was known for his quick wit and his business savvy. He grew up very poor but had the drive and ambition to become a successful entrepreneur. He was a loving husband and father and he will be missed by many.

LD is survived by his daughter, Karen and husband Russell Konesheck of Katy, son David and wife Sharon Euers of Austin; grandchildren, Michael Konesheck and wife Heather, Eric Konesheck and wife Sara, Darren Konesheck and wife Shannon, Katie Stewart and husband David, Lindsay Euers, Genni Euers and Josh Euers; great grandchildren, Tegan, Cainan, Brennin and Westin Konesheck, Madison and Caroline Konesheck and AvaJo Stewart.

Visitation will be Friday, January 27 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home on South Congress in Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with George Ward, Pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Eric and Darren Konesheck, Josh Euers, James "Bubba" Euers and Bruce Callan.
