

Leta Nell (Nelson) Williams, passed away unexpectedly on April 21st, 2016 (age 79), in Austin, Texas. She was born in Belton, Texas on May 31st, 1936. There will be a private scattering service at a later time at the Lampasas River in Bell County where she grew up.
Leta proudly graduated from Belton High School in 1954. She loved to learn and share what she knew with others. She was a voracious reader having read most of the fiction books at the Howson Branch of the Austin Public Library. She treasured being outdoors and spent almost every evening out on her front porch of her beloved house on Shoal Crest Avenue. She relished her trips to the coast and camping at all of the various state parks across Texas. She valued animals and made many friends of the cats in the neighborhood. She enjoyed going fishing when she had the opportunity and would regale those with her about growing up on the banks of the Lampasas River. She savored going out to eat with her children on special occasions, as well as playfully reminiscing with her family at holiday meals over her renowned corn bread dressing. She took great pleasure in having an active role in the upbringing and education of her grandchildren. She was a fighter her whole life and was an exemplary polio survivor. She was a generous, caring, and kindhearted person who will be missed.
Leta is survived by her three children, Ralph Winston Williams Jr., Richard Lee Williams, and Martha Beth (Williams) Friedrichsen; and her four grandchildren, Benjamin Allen Williams, Samantha Elizabeth Friedrichsen, Melissa Amanda Natalie Friedrichsen and Jacquelyn Alexandra Friedrichsen. Leta is also survived by her brother Clarence Alton Nelson and his three children and grandchildren.
Leta is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Homer "Red" Nelson and Nine Bell (Howse) Nelson, along with her sister Vania Beth (Nelson) William.
