

Lillian Russell Myers Brown, 84, died on May 22, 2010. She was born January 28, 1926, in Llano, Texas, to Lillian Nolen Myers and Lloyd Myers. She attended schools in Llano, Burnet and Austin, graduating from Llano High School. In the mid 1940s, Russell and her parents moved to Austin. During this period she was a bookkeeper at the old Austin National Bank and attended art classes at the University of Texas, Austin. Russell's specialty was oil painting but she also enjoyed working with wood. For awhile she made and sold creative bird houses. Russell married William E. Brown in 1955 and they moved back to Austin and into the same house where she had earlier lived with her parents. Russell is survived by her husband of 55 years, William E. Brown; sisters-in-law, Margaret Brown and Maxine Atkinson; nephew, Thomas V. Atkinson and wife Arden; nieces, Mary Howard and husband Phil, and Tempe Bacarisse and husband Dan; and many Nolen and Myers cousins. Russell was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Austin and the Couples/Concordant Sunday School class. Family visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish, 3125 North Lamar in Austin, TX. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church Austin, 901 Trinity St., Austin, TX on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Austin Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Austin or St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, Montana.
