

LINDA JOY KEARNS passed away peacefully January 11, 2005, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on March 28, 1940 in Miami, Florida. She moved to Austin, in 1977 with her son, David. While employed as an internal auditor for the IRS, she met her late husband of 17 years, Paul Francis Kearns. She worked her way up from an entry level position to a senior auditor position in her 15 plus years with the IRS. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Singer; mother, Agnes Towle; and sister, Reba Bunetta. She is survived by her children: Dr. David Wright, Peter Kearns, Paul Kearns Jr., Robert Kearns, and Ellyn Finnigan; sister: Barbara Adams and husband Mack; brother: Colonel Bernard Stein and wife Lee; nieces: Rebecca Bunetta, Theresa Bunetta, and Theresa Stein; nephews: Phillip Adams, Dr. Paul Adams, Brent Hammond, and Drew Hammond; grandchildren: Sean, Patrick, Erin, and Nicholas; and many friends. Joy enjoyed cooking, traveling with her late husband, and spending winters in Port Aransas. She was involved in the Walsh Tarleton Neighborhood Association in Austin and the Beach Walk Condominium Board in Port Aransas. Joy was an intelligent and strong woman. Her amazing strength and fortitude were most evident in the final years of her life as she valiantly faced her illness. Throughout it all, she remained active in the community. She will be sadly missed. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 15, 2005, from 7:00 PM 9:00 PM at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday, January 16, 2005, at 3:00 PM at Wilke-Clay-Fish. For those desiring, donations may be given to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O.
