

After service in the U.S. Navy during 1961, she committed her life to service with Tracor and then with the Texas Association of School Boards. She retired in 2001 and traveled extensively in her motorhome for a few years.
Mom enjoyed hosting Sunday dinner and family gatherings surrounded by food and merriment. Her gift of unending support and love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, neighbors and others privileged to know her.
She is survived by her sisters, Tina Lloyd and Lupe Castro and her son, James Jr., and daughters, Melissa Garrow, Patty Loutherback and Darlene (Bonnie) Austin; and ten grandchildren, Louisa M. Garrow, Elaine M. Garrow, Joseph Olvera, Sophia Turner, Nathaniel Garrow, Steven Loutherback, Madison Austin, Lindsey Austin, Ryan Loutherback, and Nicole Garrow; and four great-grandchildren, Gabriella Marie Cantu, Daniella Alyssa Cantu, Makayla Ruiz, Caylen Bray, and Aniah Turner.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with recitation of the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Mary’s Cathedral located at 203 E. 10th Street with Father David Trahan Celebrant. Committal service will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
Honoring Mrs. Garrow as pallbearers will be James W. Garrow, Jr., Bryant Austin, Matt Loutherback, Chris Bray, Joseph Olvera, Nathan Garrow, Steven and Ryan Loutherback.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Madison Austin, Lindsey Austin, Nicole Garrow, Louisa Garrow, and Elaina Garrow.
