“Gone on to a better world” Lu’s favorite way to express life’s greatest transition.
According to her birth certificate she was born to a “druggist” and a “lady” in McCool, Mississippi. She was the fourth of five children.
After the family moved to Dallas, she attended Highland Park High School and continued schooling at North Texas Agricultural College (NTAC) in Arlington where she met her future husband, Malvy E. Jameson, at a mixer. During WWII she worked for Studebaker while Malvy was serving as an officer in the U.S. Army. On October 19, 1946, they married at the First Presbyterian Church in Dallas. They were blessed with three children. The family relocated to Albuquerque, then San Antonio where they later retired. In recent years they relocated to Austin to be closer to their daughters. Lu was a working mom and spent many years as an executive secretary. She was devoted to her family and often gave support and a helping hand to members of the extended family. She enjoyed many eclectic friends, gardening, nature and music. She was an avid reader and remarkable conversationalist.
Lulu and Malvy loved to spend time at their cabin in the mountains, fishing, cooking, hiking, bird watching, and entertaining.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Malvy Earl Jameson; her sister, Janita Wells of Dallas; her children, Robbie Lynn and husband, David R. Hudson of Lakeway, John Jameson and wife, Cynthia of Watkinsville, Georgia, and Janita and husband, Charles R. Watson of Austin; grandchildren, Jamie Robbins and Bill Robbins of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of the Homegoing Service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at The Summit at Lakeway located at 1915 Lohman’s Crossing Road in Lakeway, Texas with Reverend Dr. Carla Cheatham with Heart to Heart Hospice and Deacon Terry Guilbert with Emmaus Catholic Church officiating.
