

On Friday, August 29, 2014 our beloved Mother, Lydia Pena Salinas shed her earthly body and joined our Heavenly Father in everlasting life to join her parents Genoveva Lerma Pena and Alberto Pena, and her two twin siblings.
Lydia was born January 22, 1943 in Pedukah Texas, eldest of her siblings and a long-time resident of Pflugerville, Texas. She was blessed with many offspring. God's first commandment, "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." Genesis 1:28
Lydia is survived by her four children: Ruby Elizabeth Garcia, Darlene Hayes and her husband Rick Hayes, Ruben Garcia and his wife Geneva Garcia, and Aurora Hernandez; Fourteen Grandchildren Michael Anthony Quinones and his wife Amy Baublitz Quinones, Andrew Pete Quinones, Camerino Eram Torres, Ismael Alexander Moreno, Misty Sloan and her husband Dean Sloan, Rachel Marie Hayes, Albert Allen Garcia, Ruben Solis, Amanda Lynn Garcia and her husband Jesse Garcia, Luis Mario Garcia, Erika Marie Torres and her husband Michael Torres, Joe Anthony Hernandez and his wife Karina Hernandez, Joshua Arik Hernandez, Nicole Renae DeLaRosa; and Fifteen Great-grandchildren Colin Anthony Quinones, Sandy Nicole Espinoza, Angelica Maria Noriega, Cindy Michele Noriega, Arturo Anthony Noriega, Nathanial Noriega, Christopher Garcia, Xavier Duran, Chasity Garcia, Isaiah Garcia, Journey Garcia, Ameri Angel Garcia, Jesse Rene Garcia, Selene Eliza Medina, and Jordan Anthony Hernandez. Lydia is also survived by her two brothers: Jose Lerma Pena and David Lerma Pena and his wife Margarita Pena as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.
Lydia retired from Austin Diagnostic Clinic November 2013, after thirty years. She enjoyed and loved the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her life, family, and friends. Her hobbies were traveling, dancing, music, novellas, and home décor. Her love, kindness, smile, and laughter will be greatly missed until we meet again in Heaven.
A Visitation will be held, September 3rd, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive Austin, Texas 78749. A Visitation and Celebration of Life Services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 (visitation) 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. (Celebration of Life) 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Shoreline Church 15201 Burnet Rd. Austin, Texas 78728.
