Magdalena Benitez Flores

Magdalena (Maggie) Benitez Flores of Austin, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the age of 73. She was born on March 15, 1949, in the Mexican state of Michoacan where she married Gonzalo Flores and began her family. The family moved to California in 1980 and then to Austin in 1984.

Despite her limited formal education, Maggie had an extremely strong work ethic which, combined with her perseverance, helped to allow the family to become successful restaurant owners in Austin. She was a humble, giving, and very happy individual. She constantly reminded us of what we must always learn from life’s challenges and opportunities to improve ourselves and move forward. Maggie was a devoted faithful servant of God.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Amando Benitez Meza and Juana Rebollar Benitez and her oldest daughter Anna Flores.

She is survived by her 7 siblings, Eduardo, Juanita, Valeria, Margarito, Celia, Armando, and Eva; 7 children, Celia Rivera, Jose-Luis Flores, Gonzalo Flores, Maria Flores, Liliana Flores Galan, Delia Flores, Margarito Flores; and 19 Grandchildren, Junior, Eli, Benjamin, Jacob, Josie, Adrianna, Alejandra, Marina, Sebastian, Marco, Max, Charline, Gio, Soledad, Sara, Jeronimo, Matthew, Hudson, and Wesley.

The family would like to give thanks to all our family and friends that are here helping us through this difficult time. As well are special thanks to all the doctors and nurses that cared for our beloved mother during her final days in the hospital.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749.

The Repast will be to follow at Flores Mexican Restaurant, 4625 W William Cannon Dr, Austin, TX 78749.
