I love y'all. The Meltons are family to me. I feel this loss very deeply. 



So many sweet memories of Maisy lighting up the stage with her creativity and talent at KidsActing . Her sweet smile and kind spirit always shined brightly.  And getting to know Maisy offstage was even better! The world has lost a beautiful person. Walker and I 
attended her memorial online and want to send our sympathy and compassion.  After watching the memorial, we looked at photos of Maisy and wanted to share them with you. We hope these photos add to the many beautiful memories of Maisy. Love- The Register Family ( Nancy, Scott, Walker, & Spencer) 

We have known The Melton family since they arrived in 1984. They were neighborhood friends that turned into high school, college, professional and lifelong friends. We cherish them, and their children , and grieve  heavily at the loss of Maisie. John, June , Betty,  Brink and and the entire Melton clan are family. I had the honor of hosting John and his kids at Rockfest , and housing Maisie on west campus at UT - she was a creative light and like the moon towers in downtown  she will  shine  her glow upon us, and may she shine forever in our lives . God bless you MM and the whole Melton family . 

What a lovely service.  Raden and I send our condolences to the whole Melton family.    Maisie was such a talented young lady.  She was instrumental on our DI team creating elaborate stories and art. I loved that you talked about her writing, as that is my memory of Maisie... that and her smile.

I’ll never forget Maisie’s performances on stage. 
What a beautiful voice! I loved going to see her act and sing. One evening  on the way home from her performance in Les Miserables—she gave us an analysis of each actor and character in the musical.  I recall thinking that Maisie was a true Melton with the intellectual ability to think critically. At the same time, Maisie utilized her creativity which was a Blessing  to all who knew her.  The world has lost Amazing Maisie—yet she remains in our hearts and minds.  Never ever forget! 






Dear Janine, we are so grieved to hear of Maisie's passing. I remember running into her at Kerbey Lane when she was working as a host there and she remembered me even though I had not seen her for a few years. I always liked her brightly colored hair. Mostly I remember when all our kids were little, at Casie and Will's holiday party each year, when the children would all get a book through the book exchange and she always looked so excited about having a new book to read. It seems like such a short time ago. Sending our love and condolences to you and all your family.

This is how I’ll remember Maisie. Figuring out motherhood  with you was one of the joys of my life Janine.  Maisie was amazing, and I’ll never forget her. Andy, Will, Alex, Evie and I are sending so much love to John, the boys, and you, not to mention your sweet mama, and  Betty, and the whole clan. . I’m so very sorry for your precious family. 

Maisie was an absolute pleasure to create theatre with, tell jokes with, or just chat before school with about anything. She was one of those people that friends could share any part of their day, life, or news they needed to process with and she'd be there judgement-free, likely with further knowledge or a joke to crack as well. She'll be deeply missed.

I remember Maisie as a wonderful fireball of a toddler and last saw her as a remarkable young woman. So much life and so much awareness. It couldn't have been easy at times. She had so much to offer and I really think given time she might have grown into being a  leader and advocate. I can't process this.  Loosing her has left a really big hole in this world. My heart goes out to her sweet family. It feels inadequate to say this but I am so terribly sorry.

Maisie was such a shining light!  Even though it would years in between our visits with y’all, Maisie ALWAYS was such a joy to catch up with.  During our most recent visit, I really enjoyed getting to know her as a young adult.  She has left a big impact on anyone whose path she crossed and will be deeply missed.

Our hearts are broken to hear of a creative child like your Maisie stilled by these difficult times for kids.  It is a parent's and grandparent's worst nightmare to lose a bright young woman like Maisie.

Maisie I love you and admire you always. Maisie was always someone I could talk to in school, a place where I had a really hard time. We always bonded over wanting to change the world, and learn as much as we could about it. She taught me so much and you will always be teaching me new ways to look at the world, Maisie. When I’m about to speak too soon, I always think of the ways Maisie could consider every side to an issue before she said her piece. You will be inspiring me with every step, Maisie. So much love to everybody with the privilege to know her.

The world lost an incredibly cool person this week: Maisie Melton. I first met her when she was 10 years old and even then, talking with Maisie was like talking to your cool, 36-year-old hippie Uncle with a PhD in anthropology. 
Maisie was a creative, adventurous, dryly hilarious person. She was a fierce intellectual who’s slow take on the issue at hand took 2 sentences and was the spot on assessment. She used to be on facebook and we would have some spirited but friendly, political back and forths. 
Maisie is unforgettable and truly irreplaceable, her death is a loss to the vibrancy in the garden of our lives. My sincerest condolences to her adoring parents Janine Tyler Melton and John Melton.

Maisie and our daughter were best friends. They  had a great bond and endured what some would say “the toughest years of life” together.  They would lean on each other, make each other laugh,  discuss deep thoughts and analyze the way of the world.  Maisie had a joy about her that made you you want to hug her, made you picture her as a bright and beautiful child (which you know is true!).  Bless you, Maisie.  May your soul venture on! 

It was a great pleasure to be one of Maisie’s teachers. When she had a really out-of-the-box idea, you knew it because she had a quiet smile first. That smile made you smile because you knew you were in for a really fun mind ride. Years later,  when I connected with her for lunch, she still had that smile. I am so glad I was apart of her life and she was apart of mine.

 I am holding your whole family in my heart. 

Maisie was my very first client after becoming a licensed cosmetologist and supported me through my journey of building confidence and recognizing my skills. We’ve been friends since freshmen year of high school and I have always found her a source of wisdom, kindness, and strength and the world has truly lost a unique and inspirational person. I will forever miss you Maisie!

Thank you for bringing Maisie into this world to have such a grand impact on all of us. I’m so glad to read that a deep impression was left on everyone, as well as myself. Thank you for bringing a friend into the world. 

I remember Maisie’s sweet mile and quiet  demeanor at the bus stop when all of our kids were at FTE. She was always kind and thoughtful to the other kids in the neighborhood and so creative. 
I can still feel her presence strolling the neighborhood. She was so blessed to have both of you and will not be forgotten. 
Prayers of comfort and peace to all of you over these next days and months.

Maisie was so warm-hearted, funny, a joy to be around, and unbelievably kind. Everyone I know that knows her has a story to share of her kindness, expressiveness, and creativity. 

I met Maisie in middle school when we did KidsActing together. We were always joking around backstage (I'll never forget the iconic lobster costume she had for the Little Mermaid) and having a great time. We stayed in touch throughout high school and college. I feel so grateful to have been able to see her throughout the years and to have gotten so many sweet messages (and funny memes) from her.

My heart goes out to your family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Somehow children can become frozen in your mind at a certain age, even though you are around them when they are older.   I will always remember Maisie as a 5 year old. That adorable puffy cheeked sweet girl with all the beautiful blonde hair. My heart and love go out to the wonderful Melton family. May you gather strength and love from your dear friends to get through.  My deepest condolences.

It was in Erieau, Canada we met Maisie, our girl of flying blonde curls and Rick Riordan books. She was her Grandma Lynda's greatest companion on the beaches of Lake Erie.
If our love could travel 1,500 miles, it would wrap Janine, John, Jim, John William & Grandma Lynda in a warm, protective hug.

Hi there,

I am Amy Reichle and I used to live in lost creek near you. I remember carpooling and visiting with Maisie.  She would either be doing homework or drawing and I was astonished at how creative she was. So incredibly polite and at ease with me. I remember thinking as a teacher kids as creative and smart as she was get crammed into a box in school. 

I have no idea what happened. I don’t need to know. I can’t begin to imagine the pain you are all in. What I know is the brief time I spent with her was special. I remember it like it was yesterday. She sat in the front because my back seat was small. It was such a nice time.
