

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Malachi James Jensen, age 17, following a tragic car accident in Austin on the morning of March 31, 2025. Born on April 10, 2007, in Austin, Texas, Malachi was the beloved son of Jerry James Jensen III and Nicole Kristin Lozo. He was a senior at Anderson High School. Malachi had big dreams for his future, planning to attend Texas State University to major in business and then serve in the Army as an Officer or the Marine Corps as a Pilot.
Malachi was a dedicated member of the Anderson Trojan Football Team for all four years, playing the nose guard position with passion and skill. His love for the game was matched by his love for others. He was a true friend to all who knew him, always quick with a smile, ready to lend a listening ear, and known for his infectious sense of humor.
Those who knew Malachi will remember him for his heart of gold. He was a loving son, brother, and grandson, always putting others first and making those around him feel like family. He was a joy to be around, and his spirit brightened every room he entered. His interests ranged from a deep passion for cars and Star Wars, to spending time in nature, fishing, enjoying his favorite video games, hanging out at Zilker Park with friends, teasing his older sister, Ali, eating P.Terry’s (double cheeseburger plain with ketchup), and snacking on watermelon Sour Patch Kids. His most treasured moments were those spent with family and friends, both near and far.
Malachi is survived by his father, Jerry Jensen III, and mother, Nicole (Dustin) Lozo; sister, Alexandra “Ali” Jensen, half-sister, Elliott Brooke (Kendall) Jensen; grandparents, Jerry & Paula Jensen, Omer & Cheryl Lozo; Aunt Bethany (Scott) Maddox, Cousins: Connor, Mackynlee, Cael, Jensen; Uncle Cory (Nicole) Jensen, Cousins: Lorilei, Dominic, Dillinger; Uncle Matthew Jensen, Uncle Orren Jensen, and Uncle Nicholas (Seidy) Lozo. A large extended family with many close cousins, great uncles, and great aunts in Indiana and Michigan. Malachi was preceded in death by great-grandparents Richard & Eva Adams, Jerry & Kazue Jensen, Albert & Rhea “Gigi” Boucher, Jerome & Mary Lozo. In addition, Malachi is survived by his loyal canine companions, Max and Boss.
Malachi's untimely passing has left a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Austin Pets Alive and Texas Advocacy Project.
A visitation for Malachi will be held Friday, April 11, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731 with a graveside service to follow at Austin Memorial Park.
