

Marcus Ray Hawkins, 49, of Austin, Texas passed away in his sleep on February 4, 2009. He was born August 1, 1959 in Dallas, Texas to parents, Merial Brazier and Ray Hawkins. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Mark spent most of his career marketing natural gas at Entex, Pennzoil, Mercado Gas Services and most recently as Vice President of Cokinos Energy Corporation. He was a beloved husband to Jennifer (Brannon) Hawkins and devoted father to his two precious sons, Connor Ray (5) and Brannon Wade (3). Mark is also survived by his mother and step-father, Merial & Morris Brazier; father, Ray Hawkins; sisters, Karen Hawkins Ayala and Kathy Helberg; four beautiful nieces; a wonderful extended family and his faithful chocolate lab, Dallas. He was preceded in death by his step-mother Jean Hawkins. Mark loved spending time laughing and being silly with his wife and two precious sons whom he treasured. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and playing golf with his friends and telling a great joke. Mark was one of the most thoughtful and compassionate people that his many friends and family ever knew. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at 4801 La Crosse Avenue, Austin, Texas (512-232-0164 www.wildflower.org). In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent to the Marcus Ray Hawkins Memorial Fund for a memorial to be erected at the Wildflower Center in Mark's honor. Contributions are accepted via check payable to the Marcus Ray Hawkins Memorial Fund and can be made in person or by mail at the Wachovia Bank located at 5900 W. Slaughter Lane, Bldg E, Austin, Texas 78749.
