

Margaret Windham Atkinson A memorial service for Margaret Windham Atkinson, 81, of Austin, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2003 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Her ashes will be buried at the Redman Cemetery, DeQueen, Arkansas at a later date. Margaret passed away Monday, December 22, 2003 at St. Davids Hospital after a lengthy illness. Margaret Jane was born September 27, 1922 in Logansport, LA, daughter of Minor William and Francis Eleanor Shaw Windham, but lived most of her young life in DeQueen, Arkansas with an older brother and family, Wootie and Kate and a beloved nephew, Alan Windham, who now resides with wife, Marie, in Sun City in Georgetown, TX. She was a member of the Eastern Star of DeQueen, Ark. Chapter 241 for 50 years. She was a Registered Nurse for many years, serving most of that time at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. She was a member of Central Assembly of God Church in Austin. She loved crocheting, cooking for her friends and reading. She served her Lord with acts of kindness and was a prayer warrior. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wootie Windham of DeQueen, Ark., Johnny Windham of Killeen, TX, Artis Windham of Waynesville, MO, and Minor Windham of San Antonio, TX; and sisters, Ruth Graves of Hooks, TX and Opal Abbet of Tulsa, OK. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Atkinson of Austin, one brother, Lamar Windham of Chula Vista, CA, and five sisters, Louise Hooper and Marie Foster of Shreveport, LA; Jo Nell Stewart of Winnfield, LA; Edith Watt of Salisbury, MD and Louella Gates of Carthage, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by an adopted family, Truett and Ruby Longing of El Dorado, Ark. and by many friends at RBJ Retirement Center where she resided.
