

Margaret Gardner was born on June 15, 1915 to Edward Gardner and Frieda Augusta Hillmann Gardner in Albany, New York. She graduated from Albany High School, completed a business school degree and worked for the New York State Health Department for 32 years as a stenographer and secretary. During World War II, she volunteered for the American Red Cross.
In 1941 she married Herbert Earl Dasse and shortly after Pearl Harbor, he left for service in the Army Air Corp. Her only child, Edward Charles Dasse was born on August 29, 1944. The family lived in Albany, Schenectady and Scotia until Herb’s death in 1979 when her son moved her to Texas to be near his family. In New York, she had been a member of the Evangelical Protestant Church of Albany and the Mont Pleasant Reformed Church of Schenectady.
Margaret [Peg] lived in Anderson Mill for 31 years and was a member of Grace Community Church and of the Tuesday Circle at Hope Presbyterian Church. She was a strong Christian, read her Bible constantly and was extremely generous with her charitable contributions. Margaret volunteered for many years at the Cedar Park Public Library. She enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, swimming at the Anderson Mill pool with her friends and reading mystery books. She loved her animals, Sam, the black Labrador retriever, Cookie, the little black dust mop, May Ling, the Siamese cat and Tommy the black domestic cat.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Gardner Hammes of Glenmont, New York, her son, Edward Charles Dasse, her nephew George Matthew Hammes Jr. of Clarksville, New York, her granddaughters, Erika Lyn Dasse Draeger and Jessika Lee Dasse Schroeder, and her six great grandchildren, Colson Corbett Schroeder, Olivia Grace Draeger, Browen Bridget Schroeder, Blake Mitchell Schroeder, Claire Margret Schroeder and Phoebe Harper Draeger.
A memorial service will be held on November 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Presbyterian Chruch in Austin, Texas.
