Margaret Mary OSullivan, nee Dolan, of Austin, Texas, previously of New York, London, and Dublin, born March 5, 1929 in Derrylahan, Glangevlin, County Cavan, Ireland, died peacefully at home February 21 surrounded by her family. She is predeceased by her son Denis, her sisters, Mae, Rose, Teresa and bothers Patrick, John and Anthony. She is survived by her loving husband, John of 54 years, her daughter Janette and son-in-law Douglas Sepkowitz, granddaughters Janah Boccio, and Sonja Sepkowitz, her son Vincent and daughter-in-law Margaret, and granddaughters Katie and Melissa, her sisters Kathleen, Agnes and Josie, her brother Oliver, a large extended family and many friends. Margaret was devoted to her family and her faith. She was an especially loyal servant of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and had unquestioning faith in the power of the rosary. She lived a life of humility that focused on how she could best be an instrument for Gods will here on Earth. She took great joy in Nature and loved birds. A true daughter of Ireland, Margaret appreciated literature, music, folklore and storytelling. Her soda bread was unmatched. She had a weakness for strawberry shortcake, Lucille Ball and Bing Crosby. Her passion however was helping those least able to help themselves. She worked tirelessly to feed, clothe and house the poor, bring comfort to those with mental and physical illness, counsel and empower single mothers, and advocate for the unborn. She accomplished her work through organizations such as Texas Alliance for Life, St Vincent De Paul Society, St Louis Catholic Church Food Pantry, and St Louis Catholic Church Liturgical Ministries, St Louis Catholic Church Rosary Society, Knights of Columbus, and Dougs House AIDS Hospice. She helped found the St Louis Chapter of the Gabriel Society for single mothers. Margarets family, friends and community will miss her greatly, but they will find comfort in the continued presence of her great and wonderful spirit. Mass will be celebrated for Margaret at St Louis Catholic Church, Austin, on Friday, February 23 at 4pm. Call 454-0384 for details.
