Maria Esther Mata

Maria Esther (Tinajero) Mata, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was born on February 26, 1980, to Maria Marina Tinajero and Leon Tinajero, of Hutto, Texas.

Maria Esther’s devotion to our Lord was evident from an early age. She exemplified Jesus’s teachings of love, sacrifice, service, and extending generosity and kindness to others in everything she did. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was fiercely loyal and protective to those she loved.

In high school, she was a member of the Honor Society based on her high academic achievements and community service. She volunteered as a catechism teacher at her local parish, San Jose Catholic Church, in Austin, Texas, alongside her two sisters, Norma and Esmeralda. Teaching catechism to young children inspired her to pursue her life calling as an elementary school teacher.

She graduated from Texas State University, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies in December 2002. In August 2004, Maria Esther earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University. She enjoyed traveling and studied abroad in Mexico while attending college and graduate school.

In 2015, Maria Esther met her husband and love of her life, Luis, while enjoying a common passion – dancing. On October 9, 2016, Maria Esther married the love of her life and best friend, Luis Mata, at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, in Pflugerville, Texas. After four years of marriage, they welcomed the arrival of their daughter, Briana Nicole Mata, on July 9, 2020.

A devoted Christ follower, Maria Esther grew continually in her faith and sought to share her love for Christ in every aspect of her life. Maria Esther loved cooking, traveling, and spending time with her greatest loves, Luis and Briana.

She is survived by her loving husband, Luis Mata; her daughter, Briana Nicole Mata; her mother, Maria Marina Tinajero; her father, Leon Tinajero; her father and mother-in-law, Silvia Cortina and Efrain Mata; her sisters, Norma Parra and Esmeralda Lindemeier; her niece, Abigail Parra; her nephew, Isaac Lindemeier; her brothers-in-law, Jaime Parra and Alexander Lindemeier; her maternal grandparents, Jose Tinajero and Ofelia Olguin; and numerous, beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins from both sides of the family.

La devoción de Maria Esther al Señor fue evidente desde una temprana edad. Maria Esther se recibió con un título en Estudios Interdisciplinarios de Texas State University en diciembre del 2002. En agosto del 2004, Maria Esther obtuvo una Maestría en Currículo e Instrucción de Arizona State University. Le gustaba mucho viajar y estudió en México durante sus estudios universitarios y postgraduados.

En el 2015, Maria Esther conoció al amor de su vida, Luis Mata, bailando – un pasatiempo que siempre compartieron. El 9 de octubre de 2016, Maria Esther y el amor de su vida y mejor amigo, Luis Mata, se casaron en la parroquia de Saint Elizabeth of Hungary en Pflugerville, Texas. Después de cuatro años de matrimonio, dieron la bienvenida a su adorada hijita, Briana Nicole Mata, el 9 de julio de 2020.

Maria Esther fue una Católica devota y toda su vida compartió e inspiró a todos los que la rodeaban con su fe en Cristo y en la Virgen Maria. A Maria Esther le encantaba cocinar, viajar, y pasar tiempo con sus dos grandes amores – Luis y Briana.

Ella es sobrevivida por su amoroso esposo, Luis Mata; su pequeña hija, Briana Nicole Mata; su madre, Maria Marina Tinajero; su padre, Leon Tinajero; sus suegros Silvia Cortina y Efraín Mata; sus hermanas, Norma Parra y Esmeralda Lindemeier; su sobrina, Abigail Parra; su sobrino, Isaac Lindemeier; sus cuñados, Jaime Parra and Alexander Lindemeier; sus abuelos paternos, Jose Tinajero y Ofelia Olguin; y muchos queridos tíos, tías y primos por ambos lados de la familia.
