Maria DeJesus Turner

Maria DeJesus Turner, age 66, of Austin, Texas passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. Maria was born August 30, 1954 in Brownsville, Texas, to parents Andres Sanchez, Sr. and Guadalupe Sanchez. She graduated from Southmost College in 1975 with a degree in Computer Science. In 1975, she accepted a position as a data entry assistant at Eagle International in Brownsville, Texas where she worked for more than 10 years.

Maria was a great woman and a loving person. She married Thomas on November 24, 1979 and had a happy life together.

Maria was a social, active woman who was deeply involved with friends and family for the majority of her life. She enjoyed baking. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, caring, and devoted person.

She is preceded in death by her father, Andres Sanchez, Sr. of Brownsville, Texas; her mother, Guadalupe Sanchez of Brownsville, Texas; her sister, Isabel Gonzales of Port Isabel, Texas; and her sister, Lupita Garza of Brownsville, Texas.

Maria is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Thomas; her brother, Andres Sanchez, Jr. of Austin, Texas; and her sister, Amelia of Austin, Texas.

A visitation and viewing for Maria will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a rosary service at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78752. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Saint Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin, TX 78758.
