Marie Mercado Bargas

Marie Mercado Bargas, 77, of Austin, passed away on December 16, 2006, with her five children by her side. She was born in Austin on December 2, 1929, to Cray and Lucia Mercado. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John Briseno Bargas, and their infant son, John Bargas, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers Daniel and Edward. She is survived by her son Robert Bargas, of Lake Elsinore, CA, his wife Johanna; daughters Irene Dorsey of Culver City, CA, her husband James Michael Dorsey; Rosanne Crump of Austin, her husband David; Sandra Bargas of Austin, her fiancé Joe Hipolito; and Susan Bargas Perez of Austin, and her companion Mark Barnett. She is also survived by her brothers Robert Mercado of Visalia, CA and Cray Mercado of Pflugerville; and her sister Rosie Arriaga, of Austin. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: John Cray, Michael and Robert Crump; Matthew Bargas; Anjanette Bargas and her companion, Jeremy Farnell and their son, A.J.; Jason Rivas; Albert Rivas and his children Jaden, Alyssa and Alana Rivas; and Christina M. Cruz, her husband Roberto, and their daughter Ava Irene Cruz. She also leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, nephews and a large array of wonderful friends she has cultivated throughout her life. Pallbearers will be grandsons John Cray Crump, Albert Rivas, Michael Crump, Jason Rivas, Matthew Bargas, and Robert Crump. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, December 22, 2006 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd. Austin, TX 78749.
