

Marie Chandler of Austin, Texas, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 90, following a sudden illness. She was born on February 8, 1936, in Twitty, Texas. She graduated from the Texas School for the Blind, where she met her husband of 50 years, Billy Chandler, who preceded her in death in 2012. Together they raised two children and built a loving home.
Marie worked for many years with the Lighthouse for the Blind in Austin. She enjoyed reading Braille and listening to talking books, country music, singing at church, traveling to Las Vegas, and playing bingo. A woman of strong faith, Marie read her Bible every day. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Michael and Debby Chandler; three grandchildren; her brother, Billy Teague; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Ila Teague; her husband, Billy Chandler; her sister, Charlotte “Shug” Teague; her brothers, Wilbur and Leon Teague, and their wives, Bessy and Linda Teague; her sister-in-law, Marcie Teague; her nephews, Billy Dale Teague and David Earle Teague; and her niece, Brenda Teague.
A visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, located at 6100 North Lamar, Austin, TX 78752, on February 16, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same venue on February 17, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
A graveside service will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, on February 17, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
