

Robert “Mark” Lain, 66, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in Austin, Texas.
Mark was born on October 6, 1958, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, to James and Mary Lynn Lain. He grew up in White Oak, Texas, graduating from White Oak High School in 1977. After graduation, he began his career at Lone Star Steel Company before working at TMPA in Carlos, Texas. He later relocated to Austin, where he served as a technician for the City of Austin until his retirement. Throughout his career, Mark earned numerous commendations and credits for his accomplishments.
A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Mark’s life was grounded in faith, family, and friendship. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dana Lain of Austin, and his parents, James and Mary Lynn Lain of White Oak.
Mark is survived by his son, Samuel Lain of Austin; granddaughter, Ayla Lain of Las Vegas; sister, Melinda Hargis, and brother-in-law, Brent Hargis of Longview; nieces Alli Sandlin and husband Adam of Denton; Caroline Crider and husband Jesse of Austin; and nephew Zach Hargis of Longview.
He loved cars, classic rock, his dogs, and making the most of life. More than anything, he treasured time with family and friends—especially his son, Sam—and found his greatest joy in the simple moments they shared.
A visitation for Mark will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704.
A funeral service will occur Monday, August 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704.
A graveside service will occur Monday, August 18, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Onion Creek Memorial Park, 11610 Chapel Ln, Austin, TX 78748.
