

Marvin Lee Hertel was born on December 26, 1931, to Norma and Herman Hertel. They lived in the farming community of La Bohia in Burton, TX. He attended Boundary Elementary and Burton High School where he played baseball and basketball. He graduated from Burton High School in 1949. Marvin served in the Army during the Korean War. After his time in the Army, he moved to Austin where he met and married the love of his life, Altha Hitchcock. They built a wonderful family with four children that he adored and loved. Marvin worked in the refuse business for many years as a district manager for an industry-leading company. He went on to start and build several successful companies with his two sons. He was a life Member of VFW Post 8925 in El Roy, TX. He was an avid gardener that loved working in his yard and gardens. He was also an outstanding 42 player that loved to play with his close friends. He attended Christian Life Church in Austin for many years where he served on the board of directors. He cherished all his church family, pastor, and staff. Marvin was a man that never met a stranger and always had a helping hand for others.

He was preceded in death by:
Herman Hertel, Norma Hertel and Loretta Hertel.
