Mary Anne was born in Roanoke, Alabama, to Dewitt Talmadge Ware and Martha “Marchie” Sewell Ware on the 17th of December, 1928. Mary Anne married the love of her life, Charles Harrison Ballew on the 7th of August, 1948.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education followed by a Master of Education in Guidance Counseling both from Hardin-Simmons University. She had a passion for teaching and was devoted to her students throughout her 26 year career. She taught in both Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD followed by 5 years as a tutor.
Mary Anne enjoyed and loved gardening, spending many years as a member of the Austin Chrysanthemum Society.
Her greatest love and number one priority throughout her life was her family!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. Charles Harrison Ballew, her sister Clara Ware Mullendore, her brother James (Jim) Andrew Ware, her twin sister Martha Ava Ware Blackwell, and her grandson “Alex” Alexander Harris Henry-Ballew.
Mary Anne is survived by her daughter Deborah Anne Ballew, her son James Christopher Ballew, and her ‘baby’ daughter Melinda Lou Ballew.
Also surviving are her nephew Perry Beasley, and her nieces Lesa Hauser, Bonnie Beasley, and Brenda Vaughn, all residing in Alabama.
A graveside service will be held in Rising Star, Texas, on the 16th of November, 2018, at the Rising Star Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends and family donate to either the Texas Rangers Association Foundation or HAAM.
