Former teacher, Mary Upton Barr, passed away at the age of 79 on December 7, 2007, at Wesleyan Retirement Home in Georgetown, Texas. After teaching many years, the latter of which were at Round Rock I.S.D., Mary suffered a long decline due to Alzheimer's. Her husband, Dr. Allen Barr, preceded her in death by several years. She is survived by her sons and their wives: Allen Jr. and Sandy Barr of Georgetown, Bill and Bonita Barr of Hutto, and Lee and Norma Barr of Austin; grandchildren, Leigh Barr Ecke of Colorado, Bill Barr, Jr. of Florence, Misty Barr Vires of Austin, Holly Barr Barnes of Florence, and Talon G. Lambeth of Georgetown: and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her, along with spouses and families, are three brothers: Charles and Louree Upton of San Antonio, Ernest Upton of Pampa, Texas, and Robert and Ingrid Upton of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her one sister Joan with husband Don Hall lives in Hutto. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13th in the Young Chapel in Florence.
