Mary Elinor DeBerry was born to Roy and Ethel McCuiston on August 25, 1921 in Austin, Texas. She married Seab Gaines DeBerry, Sr. in October of 1940. They were married 43 years. She passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the age of 90.
Mary Elinor is survived by her children, Seab “Dusty” DeBerry, Jr. of Spicewood; Mark and Shirley DeBerry of Buda; and Peyton and Nana Vaughn of Glen Rose. Serving as honorary pallbearers are her loving grandsons, Trent DeBerry of New Rochelle, NY, A.J., Rhys, and Garet Vaughn of Glen Rose. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maria McCuiston, her nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Seab Gaines DeBerry, Sr., her parents, Roy and Ethel McCuiston, her brother, Roy “Buddy” McCuiston, and her sister, Gwynne Clark.
Mary grew up in Hyde Park and graduated from Austin High School. She was a retired tax examiner, an avid bridge player, and could work a crossword puzzle faster than anyone. She cherished her time spent with friends at the Capitol Rod and Gun Club and her family at Camp Ben McCulloch. She lived a full life… she was very independent and was, often, the life of the party!
A gathering of family and friends for a graveside service will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 12:00 noon at Cook Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park Cemetery in Austin, Texas. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to visit with the family at her home.
