

Mary Dean Nash Harrington, 81 of Austin, Texas passed away on March 27, 2012, surrounded by her family after a brief battle with heart complications. She was born on February 15, 1931 in Union County, NC to Lester A. and Ethel H. Nash.
After graduating Wingate High School in Wingate, NC in 1949 she moved to Charlotte, NC. She married Marvin A Harrington of Monroe, NC in 1951. She was employed by Radiator Specialty Co. in the early computer data processing field. In 1977 she relocated to Washington, D.C. and worked for the Veteran's Administration as a Systems Analyst. She retired in 1993 and made Austin, Texas her permanent home.
During her life but, especially after retirement, Mary lived her dream and enjoyed her passion for travel. She experienced the beauty of the U.S. but also saw Spain, Italy, Greece, England, Australia and New Zealand to name a few. Mary also graciously volunteered her time for Breckenridge Hospital, the local library and her local AARP chapter. Most of all Mary, loved to be with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in 1967 and four brother, Hovis Nash, Walter (Mutt) Nash, Robert (Bob) Nash, all of Marshville, NC, Clifford (Pete) Nash; sister-in-law, Lillian Nash of Mocksville, NC.
Mary is survived by her three children, Douglas Neal Harrington and his wife Janette Friend-Harrington of Austin, TX, Judy Harrington Byrd of Cedar Park, TX and Janet Harrington Stakes and husband Dr. Douglas Stakes of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Clint Byrd, Megan Byrd Hobson and her husband Tory Hobson, Gregg Niblock and Scott Niblock. She was the light of our lives and was the epitome of love, grace and patience. We will all miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to Riverbend Church where Mary was a long time member for 15 years.
A Celebration Service of her remarkable love for life will be held at Riverbend Church at 10:30 am on Friday, March 30, 2012. A private interment service will be held at a later date at Remembrance Gardens of Riverbend Church.
