

Mary Parks Hill, age 95, known to most as “Mimi”, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2012 at her home in Austin, TX. Mary was born in Kennedy, TX on December 10, 1916, the only child of Robert and Jennie Mary Parks.
At the age of 6 she moved to Ballinger, TX. where she graduated from high school in 1934. She met the love of her life, John W. Hill of Arlington TX. at a dance in Arlington and they were married on May 3, 1941. Mary worked for Republic National Life Insurance Co. in Dallas for 35 years. She retired in 1981 and then moved to Austin to be close to her family.
Mary loved family vacations and had a passion for crossword puzzles. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by everyone lucky enough to have known her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John “JW” Hill. She is survived by her children, Robert W. Hill and wife Ann of Humble, TX, Don W. Hill of Comfort, TX. and Sandra Hill Lairsen of Lake Travis, TX; grandchildren, Randall Hill and wife Diana, Karyn Edmondson and husband Steve, John Hill and wife Monica, Jeff Hill and wife Tina and Travis Lairsen; step-grandchildren John Lairsen and Jennifer Lairsen and eight great-grandchildren.
Mary’s family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 6th at Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX. 78750. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7th at Restland Memorial Park, 9220 Restland Rd., Dallas, TX 75243.
