

She graduated with high honors from Versailles High School, where she was very active, serving as class vice president and a cheerleader. Soon after graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Sturgeon Jr.
She spent a short time working as a secretary prior to devoting herself to being a wife and mother. She lovingly raised two daughters. In 1968, she moved with her family to Austin, Texas as part of her husband’s job transfer from IBM.
For over 40 years, Mary Louise was an Avon Representative. She enjoyed meeting people and made lifelong friends as a result of her job. During her time with Avon, she won many awards, including several President’s Awards.
Mary Louise was a Christian who loved and trusted her Lord. Being a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she was active in many groups throughout the years, was an important part of her life.
In her spare time, she took pride in caring for her flowers and plants. She was also known for her delicious home cooking and spending cherished time loving her family. She will be missed beyond measure.
Mary Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Sturgeon Jr., daughter Sandy Sturgeon, her parents Albert and Maggie Curry, and siblings James Curry, Robert Curry, Mae Curry, Aileen Curry and Laura Duncan.
She is survived by her daughter Carol and husband Todd (Bowen), and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Amy Bowen.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm Tuesday, Jan 16th at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr., Austin, followed by a memorial service starting at 2:30pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Drive, Austin, with a reception to follow, under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
