

Mary Louise Mayer died peacefully with her husband at her side on December 18th, 2008 in Austin, Texas. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 26, 1940 she was one of seven children of Christine Haasch and the late Walter Haasch. She graduated from Pius XI HS in Milwaukee. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Walter Haasch; brother, Jerome Haasch, and sister, Ruth Brockel. Mary is survived by her husband, Frank Mayer; mother, Christine Haasch; sons, Michael (Amy), Craig (Katherine), and Kevin (Winova); four wonderful grandchildren; brothers, Charles and James Haasch; sisters, Patricia Murphy and Beverly Becker; and eighteen nieces and nephews. Mary was a devoted wife and mother who had an active life raising three great sons. She was an amazing chef who shared this talent with friends and family. She loved bowling, golfing, and playing cards. Her golf career was highlighted by a hole in one at Live Oak golf course in Lakeway, Texas. She loved fishing and spent many mother's days fishing and picnicking with her family. Mary lived in thirteen states and was an adventurous traveler who had been to over 30 countries. She was active in the Catholic community where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She graduated from the Lakeway volunteer police academy. Her family would like to thank the Emmaus Parish for their loving support during Mary's struggle. They also express the deepest gratitude to the staff at St. David's South Austin Hospital. Mary brought many smiles to all the people she encountered in this world. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Emmaus Catholic Parish, 1718 Lohman's Crossing Rd. Lakeway, TX 78734. Memorial donations may be made to the Emmaus Catholic Parish Activity Center in the name of Mary Mayer at the address above.
