

Mary Elizabeth Snyder, age 88, passed away on the 13th of February, 2012 in Dublin, GA after a brief illness. Mary was born in Veedersburg, IN, the third child of Raymond and Berniece Leath Rusk. She lived having no regrets, grateful for a life full of friends, travels, and adventures. Born on the 4th of July 1923, married on Christmas Eve 1941, she was reunited with the love of her life, Howard (Jack) Webster Snyder on February 13, just in time to spend Valentine’s Day together after 26 years apart. Jack and Mary enjoyed 30 years of Air Force life and retired in Austin, TX in 1974. She moved in 2003 to Warner Robins, GA to be nearer to her family.
She is survived by one very ordinary daughter and one exceptional daughter, although the ordinary one was always her favorite: Cynthia E. Howard (Michael Howard) of Woodbridge, VA, and Rebecca S. Jenkins (Reginald W. Jenkins) of Danville, GA; six grandchildren: Eric Howard of Baytown, TX; Roy Howard of Havelock, NC; Ryan Howard of Sumter, SC; Sarah Howard Millet of Savoy, IL; Natalie Jenkins Spaur of Ramstein AFB, Germany; and Tracy Jenkins of Atlanta, GA. She has 19 grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving her are her two four-legged rescued companions, Nikki and Sandy Surviving siblings include Betty Rusk Harding of Attica, IN, Eldon Dean Rusk of Lafayette IN, and Barbara Roark of Davenport, FL. She was preceded in death by her brother Wayne Rusk and sister Wreatha Rusk Weigle, both of Plymouth, IN.
The family will receive friends from five until seven o’clock in the evening on Friday, February 17, at Cook-Walden. Funeral services for Mrs. Snyder will take place in the Colonial Chapel of Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX on Saturday February 18th at two o’clock in the afternoon, followed by interment at Memorial Hill Cemetery, Pflugerville, TX.
