

Matthew Joseph Kruse, beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend, passed away on February 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on June 7, 1971, Matt, as he was affectionately known, touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Matt's magnetic personality and quick wit made him a true people-person. His engaging demeanor and infectious sense of humor endeared him to countless individuals throughout his life's journey. He had a rare gift for connecting with others on a profound level, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.
Survived by his beloved wife, Brittany, and their two cherished children, Lauren Josephine and John Chapman, Matt's devotion to his family was unwavering. He found immense joy and fulfillment in being a devoted husband and father, exemplifying warmth, and unconditional love in every aspect of his life.
Born to James and Jeanne Kruse, Matt grew up in Colorado Springs, CO, where he attended St. Mary's High School. He pursued higher education at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX, and later graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a degree in Communication and Media Studies.
Throughout his multi-faceted career, Matt exhibited a passion for excellence and creativity. An avid disc golf player and promoter for the sport, he showcased both skill and sportsmanship on the course, earning admiration from fellow enthusiasts.
Matt's love for music was evident to all who knew him. A true aficionado, he frequented concerts and festivals, reveling in the magic of live performances and the camaraderie of fellow music lovers.
In addition to his immediate family, Matt is survived by his siblings, Coco Klinkenberg of Santa Monica, CA, Elizabeth Niski of Colorado Springs, CO, and Mitchell Kruse of Bellevue, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeanne Kruse, and his father-in-law, W. Chapman Byrd.
Matt's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him dearly, but his spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched. His laughter, kindness, and zest for life will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Matt's life will be held to honor his memory, 2:30 on March 10, 2024 at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to EDGE -- Educational Disc Golf Experience, a designated 501(c)3 charity, in honor of Matt's compassionate spirit and love for community.
