Maureen Anne Higgins

Maureen Anne Higgins, née Carney, 71, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning June 15, 2025, while asleep at home. Born in Worcester, MA on December 30, 1953, Maureen graduated from Westfield State University in MA with a BA in Mathematics. Maureen spent 10 years in computer operations and systems programming, and then 16 years as a wonderful mother raising 5 boys. She then worked 22 years in the Round Rock Texas Independent School District, 3 years as a lunch monitor and then 19 years as a Special Education Teacher’s Aide.

Maureen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Leo III, her 5 boys, Leo IV, Patrick, Ryan, Thomas, and Devin, her eight grandchildren, Isaiah, Leah, Chandler, Hadley, Charlie, Andy, Ben, and Conor, and her sister Carol. Maureen will be fondly remembered for her dedication to her children and her students. Maureen was devoted to her family, loved doing puzzles, enjoyed traveling and cruises, and was famous for her incredible memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, her favorite charity for over 40 years. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at the Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills funeral home at 9700 Anderson Mill Rd, Austin, TX from 4 - 6 PM on Monday June 23, 2025. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 North FM 620, Austin at a date to be announced soon.
