It is with heavy hearts but steadfast faith that we announce the passing of Melissa Kelly Morgan, 68, of Austin, Texas, who went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2025. After a two-week battle with medical complications, Melissa passed peacefully and pain-free, surrounded by the presence of many family members and loved ones the entire time. During her final days, she was also blessed with extraordinary caregivers, whose compassion and devotion were truly a gift from God.
Born on September 21, 1957 to Harold Theodore Morgan (deceased) and Emily Ruth Morgan (Hornak) (deceased), Melissa was a woman whose life was marked by love, faith, and selfless service. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she brought joy and wisdom to all who knew her. She was the loving mother of four daughters—Kelly, Cassie, Marcy, and Shela—and the proud grandmother of two granddaughters —Reese and Carter—and one grandson—Mason. She cherished each of her roles, finding great delight in quality time spent with family and those she loved.
Melissa was also the beloved sister to two brothers—Patrick and Michael—and five sisters—Cynthia, Jenifer (deceased), Kathlyn, Rebecca, and Roberta. She cared deeply for her family, appreciating the unique connections she shared with each of them, always ready to offer love, support, and a listening ear when needed.
Above all, Melissa was a woman of deep faith. She was a committed follower of Jesus Christ, living a life centered around love, service, and compassion. Her unwavering dedication to the Lord shone brightly in every aspect of her life, and she was always eager to share her faith with those around her. Melissa was actively involved in her church, where she not only participated in worship but also poured her heart into serving others.
One of Melissa’s greatest gifts was her beautiful voice, which she used to praise and worship God. Whether singing at church, at family gatherings, or in quiet moments of reflection, her voice was a reflection of her heart—joyful, faithful, and full of love.
Melissa had a unique ability to make everyone feel special. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and caring nature made her a constant source of comfort and encouragement to her loved ones. She had a wit that could light up any room and a sense of humor that brought laughter to even the most difficult moments. She loved spending time with her family, playing games, and sharing meals. She also had a special fondness for the beach, where she found peace and renewal in the beauty of God’s creation.
While Melissa’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her, we take comfort in knowing that she is now in the glorious presence of her Savior, now fully alive and free! Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the countless lives she touched.
A private family celebration of Melissa's life will be held on October 18 at her family’s ranch in Dripping Springs.
