On June 23, 2010, Merle Williams passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years. She was born May 29, 1921 in Hunt, TX, Kerr County. Merle grew up and attended school in the Texas valley. She went on to attend Edinburg Junior College and Southwest Texas State Teachers College, graduating with a degree in elementary education. Teaching was a passion for Merle. She loved all of her students and taught for almost 40 years, with the majority of those years at Gullett Elementary.
She met the love of her life, Quinner Williams (pictured above), in San Marcos, TX. They were married on June 22, 1951 and enjoyed 50 wonderful years together before his passing.
She is survived by her son, Quinner Williams, Jr. and his wife, Janet Hejl Williams; two grandchildren, Christina and Celeste Williams, all of Austin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, Lamar location. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Lockhart City Cemetery.
