Mrs. Mildred Etta (Fues) Webb was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 20, 1921 but lived most of her long, happy life in Austin, Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She married her one and only true love, Mr. Jack Long Webb, after he returned from active duty in WWII and raised two children in a happy home. She was active in her neighborhood Rollingwood Women's Club and established many life long friends. She joined and continued membership for over 60 years in a special women's club called the Tuesday Nighters. She was married at Central Christian Church in downtown Austin, where she also taught kindergarten. Her life long friend, Mrs. Ruth Petty, was her constant companion and she worked many years at Robin's Party Shop, owned by Ruth, where she helped many people plan weddings and parties. She later retired to a home her son, Richard Cody Webb, built for her in Oak Hill but always stayed active in family gatherings, especially in Creedmoor where her cousins the Jones's live. She grew up in and around Manchaca, graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, and spent all her years in Austin, Texas where she could be close to her family, especially her daughter Ronni Susan Winters and husband Robert, son Richard and wife Carla, and grand daughter Marci Evans Booker and husband Douglas. She celebrated every holiday by decorating her house and lived every day as if it were special. She found many relatives her father had left behind when he left Germany and maintained contact with those who also came to Texas, especially the Birkner family. She led a full, vibrant life full of family and friends and died peacefully of natural cause.
She is survived by her daughter, Ronni Susan Winters; granddaughters, Marci Evans Booker and Shannon Peters and their families; daughter-in-law Carla; along with many cousins.
She will lie in peace at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca along with four generations of her close family. Rest in peace dear Mother and Grandmother, we'll miss you and your special kind of love, sense of humor, and devotion. You were our guiding light.
