

Miles Standish Kaltenbaugh Jr., a devoted and passionate individual, passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 91. Residing in Austin, Texas, Miles was known for his dedication and love for family, his sense of humor, and his attention to detail.
Born on June 7, 1934, Miles, affectionately known as ‘Sam’, pursued an education at Antioch College in Ohio, where he earned a Master's Degree in Education. His career took him to the Air Force, where he served as a 1st Class Airman for four years, demonstrating dedication and commitment to his country. His career ultimately led him to serve the State of Texas in the Health Department for 25 years.
Miles married LaJuana Kaltenbaugh, with whom he shared a loving family. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage before he lost his “Lady.” He is survived by his two daughters, Chris Goodrum and Carol Doggett; four grandchildren, Julie Casas, Michael Doggett, Samuel Goodrum, and John Goodrum; and nine great-grandchildren, Brandon Doggett, Savanna Doggett, Juan Casas, Luis Casas, Marley Casas, Sophie Goodrum, Conner Goodrum, Elsie Goodrum, and Telia Goodrum. He is also survived by his niece, Amanda Feiner. Miles is preceded in death by his wife, Lajuana Kaltenbaugh, and his parents, Miles Sr. and Permelia Ann Kaltenbaugh, and his only brother, Jack Kaltenbaugh.
In his personal life, Miles had a passion for model airplanes and was a longtime member of the Aviation Club, where he shared his enthusiasm and knowledge with fellow enthusiasts.
A visitation will be held on November 2, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, located at 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731. The funeral service will follow from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the same location.
A committal service will take place for the family only, at Cook Walden – Memorial Hill the following day.
Miles's legacy of dedication, passion, and love for his family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
