

Miro E. Klecka, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a long illness, Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Westminster Health Care Center, in Austin, Texas. Miro was born in Yoakum, Texas, and grew up in Ennis, Texas. He attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering. While attending The University he taught organic chemistry and chemical engineering. After graduation, he went to work for Shell Oil Company Research, in Houston, Texas, for 40 years, where he received numerous patents and retired in 1985. He and his wife moved to Austin, Texas. He and his family enjoyed traveling and photography. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Steven Klecka and wife Karen, daughter Jan Ballard and husband Sam Ballard, and five grand children Michael Ballard, Kathy Ballard, Carolyn Ballard, Paul White, and Douglas White. He is also survived by his sister Frances Moore of Cibolo, TX and brother Joe Klecka of Dallas, Texas. The family would like to thank the staff of the Westminster Health Care Center for many years of loving care, including his aide Cynthia, and the loving care of the staff of Hospice Austin. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Manor Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009.
