Austin, TX – Monty Graham Goff, born on July 10, 1949, passed peacefully from this life on November 2, 2011 at the age of 62 surrounded by a wealth of family and friends. Bigger than life, Monty was a devoted and smitten husband to Vicki Huebinger Goff, and father to his adoring daughter, Katherine Goff Thole. He was born in Bryan, Texas to Percy Martin Goff and Frieda Barlemann Graham Goff, who preceded him in death.
Monty remains the heart in an extensive family of relatives, friends and colleagues, who remember him as a devoted and loving man. His passion for life, people and music filled his soul and that of those surrounding him, including all who were with him on Wednesday when he started the next phase of his journey.
Monty never met a person he couldn't befriend, a fish he couldn't catch, a song he couldn't dance to, or a task he couldn't manage. As a 19-year veteran Director of Planning and Business Services at Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association (TPCIGA), he gained a family away from home that he also adored.
He was instrumental in the development of the Austin Convention Center, and enjoyed his time as a Planner with the City of Austin. Outside of work, Monty gained enormous fulfillment from his role with the Anderson Community Development Corporation, and as a mentor to others.
Monty is survived by his wife, Vicki, his daughter, Kate, his sister, Marty Godbout and numerous beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In honoring Monty, donations can be made to the Anderson Community Development Corporation, in c/o Ray Galloway, 1914 East 12th Street, Austin, Texas 78702, or to the charity of your choice.
Services will be private.
