Our beloved mother, Myrna Louise Hill Chapman passed away July 4, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas after an illness and fall at the age of 84. She was born December 14, 1935 In Deshler, Ohio. She was proceeded in death by her father, Michael Nelson Hill, mother Mildred Cleo (Wickard) Hill, all 8 of her brothers and sisters and daughter Debra Kay Chapman Hayes.
She is survived by children Tana Louise Chapman Boren of Taylor, Texas, Donna Fay Chapman Wimberley of Leander, Texas and Harold Lloyd Chapman Jr. and wife Tracy of Andice, Texas. She has 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She graduated from Deshler High School in 1954 where she was a member of the the Mixed Choir, Glee Club, Drama Department and Annual Staff. She also played the Accordion. She received her cosmetology license in 1969 where she opened and operated Myrna’s Beauty Salon in Amherst, Ohio until moving to Texas in 1972. In 1986 she opened Lake Creek Salon on Hwy 620 for a number of years. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do when she put mind to it. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, refinishing furniture, gardening, making hand dipped chocolates, baking and a special passion of hers was fishing! She owned a cabin at Lake Texoma in the late 70’s early 80’s where she’d spend weeks at a time fishing for catfish, where she’d wrangle 80 pound catfish off her trout lines, by herself! Pictures to prove it!
She was a devout Christian and previously a member of Great Hills Baptist Church and more recently Andice Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class and enjoyed serving in the kitchen ministry. As children, we enjoyed when she play her Accordion for us!
Cook-Walden Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for a private, immediate family only graveside service at the cemetery for health and safety precautions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Please, no flowers are requested.
