

Nancy Prevo Gureny (affectionately known as “Granny”) was born in Illinois in 1924 and peacefully passed away on January 28, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Eric Gurney, her brother George Prevo, and her son, William George Anderson. She is survived by her daughters, Lee Brockmann, Nonny Thompson and Diane Adams, her seven (7) grandchildren and her six (6) Great grandchildren.
Nancy was a child prodigy in Art and, thus, was educated as a professional fine artist. She used to say that above all things thought her childhood. “I was steeped in Art like a tea bag in hot water”. As a consequence, she left behind a beautiful and vibrant paintings and many wonderful friends and relatives. Some of her paintings are currently hanging in private collections. Over the years, some were accepted into prestigious galleries and shows around the country. Such as Settlers West Gallery, Davis Dominguez Gallery, the Empire Ranch Western Art Show and the Mountain Oyster Club in Arizona; the Salmugundi Club and the American Artists Professional League in New York City; the Louisiana Watercolor Society; and the New Britain Museum Of American Art and the Connecticut Pastel Society in Connecticut, to name a few. She had several one person shows and also won many awards, such as the Artist of the year in 1998 by the Virginia Gold Cub Steeplechase and the Joseph Cain Memorial Award in 1988, 2005, and 2009 from the National Association Of Painters in Casein an Acrylic at the Salmagundi Club in NYC.
