Nicole Michelle Esparza Hodgers

Michelle is survived by her husband Tony Hodgers; children, Lauren Michelle Medina, Lisa Marie Guerrero (and husband Armando Guerrero Jr,), and Leslie Ann Medina. She is also survived by her mother, Christina Beltran, and siblings: Genaro Nicholas Esparza; Theresa Esparza (and husband Mitchell Meeker); Erika Esparza; Cierra Flores (and husband Michael Flores); Priscilla Kunaschk (and husband Shawn Kunaschk); Gino Esparza (and wife Stephanie Esparza), Albert Esparza (and wife Savannah Esparza); grandmothers, Rachel Gonzales (maternal grandmother) and Rosie Esparza (paternal grandmother); and a vast extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. She adored her grandchildren, Cristiano Lee Medina-Guerrero, Sipriano Benito Guerrero, Luciana Alicia Guerrero, Erik Jordan Rendon, and Erin Raine Rendon, who brought her immense joy and fulfillment.

She is preceded in death by her father; Genaro Esparza, the third, her grandfathers: Vincent Gonzales, Sr. (maternal grandfather) and Genaro Esparza Jr (paternal grandfather); and son, David (“Baby David”) Medina, Jr.

Michelle suffered in such pain with antiphospholipid syndrome, always in and out of the hospitals, but she always found a way to smile and comfort those around her. She could find the humor in almost any situation and would never let you see her pain because she cared for you and your feelings and would put hers aside.

Though her marriage to Tony Hodgers had ended, they shared many chapters of life together, and his presence as part of her story remains a meaningful piece of her journey.

Michelle will be forever missed. Her love lives on in the hearts of those she touched, a light that will forever shine.

A service to celebrate Michelle’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Cook-Walden Forrest Oaks Funeral Home located in Austin, Texas. Friends and family are invited to honor her memory and the impact she had on so many lives. A rosary will be also held at Cook-Walden Forrest Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.
