She was born to parents Eusebio and Santos Mata on January 8, 1962 in Weslaco, Texas. She grew up spending summers visiting Michigan, walking to local swimming pools, and spending time with family and friends.
In 1992, Norma met the love of her life, Martin, while out with friends. The two were married six months later on August 27, 1992 in Las Vegas. Throughout their thirty-one year marriage, they traveled the world, created and completed bucket lists, and finally became parents to their only daughter, Letty, in 1995.
Norma devoted twenty-three years to her job at the State Office of Administrative Hearings (S.O.A.H), retiring in 2018. During her retirement, Norma enjoyed more traveling, gardening, cooking in her kitchen, shopping, and lunching with friends.
In 2022, Norma was promoted to her favorite title yet…grandma, welcoming her only grandchild, Trey, to the world. Together they enjoyed going to the park, Barnes and Noble, and spending time in her backyard.
Norma was a friend to all. Her infectious smile will be deeply missed. Lack of her presence will be severely felt. We are left with the beautiful memories of her. They will be cherished forever.
