

Oliver Carlson, 81, was called home to be with his Lord on Friday the 22nd day of June 2012, in Temple, Texas. He was the only son of eight children, born to David and Ellen Carlson on the 24th day of September, 1930.
Oliver was a life-long resident of Austin, Texas and was retired from Farmers Insurance. He served as a deacon of Hyde Park Baptist and was honored as Deacon Emeritus at Austin Baptist Church.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korea War was Honorably Discharged.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Elaine, and sons Michael and wife Patti, Gary, and Glenn, seven grand children and three great grandchildren. During this time, arriving from out of state, Mary Jane German was with them during this time of bereavement.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Monday, the 25st of June 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
A funeral service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 26th of June 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas with Dr. David Procter of Austin Baptist Church and Rev. Dan Gardner of Hyde Park Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
