Mom was born in Tehran, Iran on May 1, 1923 to Arbab Kaikhosrow Shahrokh and Firouzeh Farahi. She had 11 siblings and was youngest of the 4 sisters. After finishing High School she married our Dad (Firouze Kermani) at the age of 20 and through the years they had three daughters .
Aside from raising her children, Mom helped Dad with running his business. She devoted many years to volunteer work for Lions Club helping the blind with social, economical and educational causes. When earthquakes hit in different cities in Iran she also volunteered her time to help people in need.
Mom was very talented and had a very artistic mind which produced many paintings using oil paint and charcoal pencil. She was also an amazing seamstress who made most of her own clothes as well her daughter’s earlier in life.
Mom and Dad had a vast social circle which included many family members and friends. She was also very athletic; she played volleyball in school and cricket in the country club in Tehran. She loved to watch Tennis on TV and even in the last few years enjoyed playing Mahjong on the IPad.
Mom had quite a few adventures, some of which was taking her two daughters Guity and Farideh to Bombay at the age of 5 and 6 to visit their Dad’s mother on a propeller plane. While she was there in India she bravely rode a motorcycle. Later she took the same two daughters to Boarding School in Bangalore at the age of 11 and 12, and some years later took Roxana to England for her education. Mom was courageous to take her daughters abroad and leave them. The biggest adventure was for her to leave her homeland and move to the US in 1979. She lived in California for many years and later moved to Texas to be with her entire immediate family.
Mom was a quiet person with a heart as big as the sky, and was loved most dearly not only by her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, but also her entire family and friends. She had a beautiful smile that warmed up anyone that met her.
A beautiful poem sent to us by Bobbi which we would like to share.
Though your smile is gone forever and your hand we cannot hold or touch, we still have many memories of you and we loved you so much. Your memory is our keepsake with which we will never part…God has you in his keeping and we have you in our hearts.
