2 Timothy 4:7
Paula Crosby Goerner was born at 11A on Sunday, November 16, 1930, in Warsaw, San Augustine County, Texas to Riley Green Crosby and Sarah Lona Elizabeth McCauley Crosby, their first born. She passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 93 ½ years under the care of Heart to Heart Hospice.
Her happiest times were playing and teaching piano to her family and students in Smithville, later attending numerous Austin Symphony concerts. She also loved singing and playing the organ and attended many organ concerts. Music was her passion providing endless hours of comfort and enjoyment.
She was proud of the years she worked for the Department of Public Safety and of her subsequent retirement from that agency. She continued working after her retirement and enjoyed traveling to different areas in the United States.
She was a strong woman who had the perseverance to face challenges that came her way. She will be remembered for her insightful interest in her health to which she contributed her longevity and the doctors who guided her along that path. She had a memory like no other in that she could recall and tell the exact details of her life ventures from an early age to current.
It was not easy for her to accept when her change in health required assistance from others, but she made the choices to do what was best for both her physical and mental well-being.
Most recently she enjoyed the companionship and activities at Village Christian Apartments in Austin and then at The Legacy in Leander before residing at Cedar Pointe Health and Wellness Center in Cedar Park.
A life on this earth spanning 93 plus years is quite an achievement and her family promised to do their best to reach that marker acknowledging that she set the bar.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father and three siblings – Riley Crosby Jr, Lona Crosby Hemphill, and Frank Lee Crosby.
She is survived by her brother, Reginald Crosby; her five children – Suzanne Batchlear, Karen Zegub, Steven Goerner (Trish), Elizabeth Rinker (Joe Ray), and John Goerner (Patricia); eight grandchildren – Tony Batchlear (Brenda) and Tanya Bridges (Bob); Christy Zegub and Wendy Osaer (Jason); Daryl Goerner (Rachel) and Melanie Goerner; and Nicole Cantu and Amber Rinker; and 13 great grandchildren – Ashley McQuoid and Christian Bridges; Kaley Shocklee, John Barrios, Alina and John Batchlear; Xavi Zegub; Gavin Cheesebrew, Audra Salazar, and Theodore Krueger; Manny and Kayla Cantu, Isaac Cantu, Austin and Alana Van Nguyen and Abigail Martinez; along with several nieces and nephews.
