Peter Louis Brady IV of Austin, Texas died Sunday November 6, 2005 after a brief illness. Pete was born on September 22, 1928 in Beaumont, Texas to Peter Louis Brady, III and Hazel Brady. A longtime Austinite, he graduated high school in 1947 from the old Austin High on Rio Grande. Following graduation, Peter attended the University of Texas, where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1953. He remained an avid Longhorn fan for the rest of his life and we are sorry he will not be able to see the Longhorns win the National Championship again next year. Pete was commissioned as an officer with the United States Navy following his college graduation and served as a communication officer on Naval ships. In 1959, Pete met his lovely wife, Velma Turner in Dallas, Texas, and they were married later that year. They were blessed with two children, Polly and Philip, and would have celebrated 46 years of marriage in December. Peter and Velma moved to Austin in 1961 and he began working with his brother Howard at the printing company he founded, The Brady Company. The company later became known as Atex Austin, Inc. and he remained there until his retirement in 1993. An active member in his Church, United Christian Church, he held many positions of leadership and leaves behind many valued friends within that congregation. Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Louis Brady, III and Hazel Brady, and his brother, Howard Brady. Pete is survived by his wife, Velma Brady; his daughter Polly Whitaker and husband Mark of Cedar Park; his son Philip and wife Benita of Austin; and two grandchildren, Justin Craig Whitaker and Jackson Peter Brady, who were the lights of his life. Friends are invited to a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at United Christian Church, 3500 West Parmer Lane, with Rev. Tim Tutt officiating.
