Peter Fletcher Loucks, of Austin, TX, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the age of 54. Peter was born to parents David Fletcher and Mary Ann Loucks on April 25, 1963, in Milwaukee, WI. He grew up the beloved brother of three sisters and attended St. Monica parochial school and Whitefish Bay High School. Peter discovered his passions early: As a boy, he found joy fishing for chinook on the shores of Lake Michigan at Big Bay Park. He enthusiastically competed with classmates in numerous sports, especially football and baseball. At the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, he studied and discovered his love of nature, landscaping, and gardening. His interest in bicycling took him across the entire state of Wisconsin in 1985. And in 1986, working at the Hyatt hotel in downtown Fort Worth, TX, Peter met the love of his life, Jana Paige Patterson. They married in 1990 in Austin, TX, and he lived the rest of his days there, enjoying the Texas Hill Country, especially camping with Jana at local state parks; golfing at Lions Municipal Golf Course; playing chess; and cooking for family and friends. He was an ardent Green Bay Packers fan throughout his life and a shareholder of the team. Even as his health declined, Peter maintained a passion for giving and sharing, for showing neighborly love, for finding a friend in everyone he encountered, and for lifting spirits with his keen sense of humor.
Peter is survived by his cherished wife, Jana; his mother Mary Ann; his sister Jan Marie Ballard (Lee) and nieces Marie Anne and Emily Susan; his sister Katrin Loucks and niece Isabel Lorraine; his sister Gretchen Loucks; his in-laws Pat and Mary Patterson, Laine Patterson, and Amy Goble (Jim); and by his dear friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his father David.
Peter’s family offers sincerest thanks to all his professional caregivers and physicians, especially those at Davita Waterloo Dialysis Center, Seton Medical Center, Halcyon Home, Texas NeuroRehab, City of Austin First Responders, and Cook-Walden Funeral Home (www.cookwaldenfuneralhome.com).
