With heaviest of hearts we announce our beautiful, sweet Pilar has passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 13th, gaining her wings and lifted into eternal peace to be reunited with her mother Maria, father Juan and brother Vicente.
For 17 years she fought against Parkinson's then her last 4 years she also battled lung cancer along with the Parkinson's. She was a true warrior and fought a tough battle for so long. She had a love for life and people. Her smile, kindness and compassion towards anyone she met was genuine. She was so loved by so many and her loss is and will be forever felt.
Born in Spain she later traveled to England with friends to pursue her studies in nursing where she then met and married the love of her life, James Reaves. A dedicated military spouse for 18 years she traveled proudly alongside her husband making many memories and friendships along the way and beyond. Upon her husband's retirement from the United States Air Force she, her husband and daughter moved to Austin, Texas in 1977 planting roots as their final home. A very proud Motorolan from 1978-1998 earning many accolades and praises throughout her career including the distinguished honor of Motorolan of the Month. Upon her retirement she enjoyed entertaining in her beautiful new home in Buda as well as traveling most especially back to her beloved country of Spain. She loved getting together in Austin with her Spanish girlfriends and families enjoying good food, music, dancing, laughter and proudly celebrating her Spanish culture. As her health declined Pilar and Jim relocated to independent living at Village on the Park at Onion Creek in 2021 where she met so many wonderful people, both residents and staff who fell in love with her. She enjoyed bingo, happy hour, listening to musicians who would come play for residents, various activities held in the community and socializing with staff, residents and her girls in the dining room. Her daughter Melissa who she also called her sunshine would visit her daily. Despite her declining health when she saw her sunshine arrive she would smile so brightly. She is at peace now and free of any illness. She is and forever will be missed and the emptiness without her is immense. We love and miss you always and forever.
